Courses and workshops
Our resident and visiting artists can facilitate a range of creative activities for both adults and young people, to enhance appreciation of contemporary visual arts for all sectors of the community. We seek to enable people to extend their skills, experience and knowledge by working with practicing artists.
Printmaking for Adults (18 years +)
Crescent Arts continues to run printmaking workshops for adults through the winter and spring, to give participants an introduction to a variety of printmaking processes. Participants will also be able to book Crescent Arts’ open-access printmaking facilities with access to tuition when required.
Dry Point Etching & Chine Collé

Drypoint Etching is a variant of engraving, done with an etching needle or sharp point. A drypoint scratching leaves a rough burr at the edges of each line. This burr gives dry point prints a characteristically soft, and sometimes blurry, line quality.
This method is a simple and effective way of producing intaglio prints without the use of any acids. Chine Collé is a collage process that introduces colour and texture into an etching without having to prepare and print additional plates. Lightweight papers are used for this method, which are cut or torn into desired shapes.

An Introduction to Screen Printing
with Jonathan Green

£35 / £32 (Crescent Arts members)
During the workshop you will learn how to print using a photo stencil, and how to get your artwork ready to put onto your screen. You will see how to coat a screen with photo emulsion, expose it using a professional exposure unit, learn about different inks and print either using a printing table or t-shirt carrousel and dryer.

Open access facilities
Members of Crescent Arts can book our facilities for printmaking, kiln-firing for ceramics and workshop space hire. First-time users must enroll for an induction with one of our resident artists.
