Our vision
Things are changing at Crescent Arts... but our vision is clear; to support and promote contemporary visual arts in Scarborough and beyond, for the benefit of artists, visitors, participants and our members. We support emerging, developing and leading artistic talent and seek to enhance access to the visual arts.

Crescent Artspace
Crescent Artspace is on the move. From 2010 we’ll be presenting new work by artists at 14-15 Queen Street in Scarborough, formerly the Royal Auction Rooms. Crescent Artspace is not so much a gallery as a project space for artists with public access. We aim to present a challenging, innovative and stimulating programme of contemporary visual arts, working with artists from Scarborough, across the region, nationally and internationally. Find out more in the exhibitions.

Crescent Artstudios
Our studios will continue to be housed in the basement of Scarborough Art Gallery. We offer studio space for up to seven artists at any one time. Resident artists benefit from subsidised rates for studios, equipment, facilities and resources as well as from professional support and training opportunities. Artists can also gain experience in educational work, business and administration skills. They also have a chance to present work in Crescent Artspace, off-site, and in our project space at the studios in The Crescent.
Find out more about our current artists, studios and residencies on the resident artists pages of this website.
Membership
Become a member of Crescent Arts and you’ll receive exclusive invitations and information about our events and activities. To enroll, please go to our membership pages.
Open access facilities
Our facilities are located in the basement of Scarborough Arts Gallery. We currently offer provision for printmaking (relief printing, etching and screenprinting) and kiln-firing for ceramics. Our resident artists are able to deliver a range of creative workshop activities.
We aim to enhance access to the visual arts by offering facilities to our members, and to a range of communities, schools, colleges, and universities. We provide a supportive and stimulating environment for all participants.
Find out more about our facilities and how to book them on the workshops and facilities pages.
Crescent Arts is supported by Arts Council of England Yorkshire, Scarborough Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council.
