An exciting and diverse mix of contemporary textile art. This exhibition brings together new and recent works by artists and makers from around the UK who work in a variety of methods. Ranging from installation, digital printing to more traditional techniques, the exhibition promises to have something for everyone.
Karen Woods’ textiles and mixed media wall hangings are bright and quirky with figurative and narrative elements.

Anna Raymond’s work blurs the bounderies between traditional printing techniques and new technologies.

Local artist Sarah Venus makes sculptural objects using felt and machine embroidery.
Jeanette Sendler has created an installation inspired by the wives of Shetland’s Fishermen who would estimate their husbands return by the amount of yarn they had knitted.

Kim Welch takes inspiration for her knitted textile accessories from Sea Life.
Colour and layering of surfaces is a fundamental element of Susan O’Connell’s work. Inspired by landscape she manipulates and collages fabric to create a subtle painterly effect.
Ann Goddard combines traditional textile techniques with unorthodox materials including wood and metal to create work of sculptural beauty.

Rosie James explores the everyday lives of ordinary people through overlapping drawings in stitch.
Sally Williams combines textiles with cutting edge technology including laser cutting, heat embossing and electron micrographs.

Flora Parrott will be exhibiting a full size replica silk parachute printed with designs inspired by the ‘Mend and Make Do’ campaigns of World War Two, when women would rush to gather the silk from fallen parachutes.
