Scarborough Winter School 2016 is a collaboration between Crescent Arts and art schools from across the North and hosted by Scarborough School of Arts.
Participating art schools were asked to run a workshop that somehow provides a flavor of the art education that takes place within their studios. It began with a desire to deepen the conversation around the purpose and pedagogy of art education. We began with three very simple questions:
What do you teach?
How do you teach it?
Why do you teach it?
As Arts Education becomes increasingly marginalised across all age groups, Scarborough Winter Schools aims to inform and influence current and future arts and education policy makers through the development of a network of art educators and artists.
Art education – its teaching and learning, philosophy and practice – matters.
