A winter solstice Reflection…
Looking Inward, Looking Onward: A Solstice Reflection from Crescent Arts
As the winter solstice approaches, we’ve been reflecting on how our green spaces echo the themes of our latest exhibition, Looking Inward, Looking Onward.
This exhibition acts as a micro-portrait of Crescent Arts as it stands today. It gathers works by artists who have shaped, supported, and been shaped by the organisation over the years. Together, these pieces celebrate the creative community that continues to define Crescent Arts: resilient, curious, and ever-growing.

A Solstice Tradition: Planting Intentions
Traditionally, the winter solstice marks the time to plant garlic cloves, preparing the ground for a summer harvest in the coming year. We were inspired by this small but symbolic act of planting something now that will flourish later.
Using the humble garlic bulb as inspiration, we’ve created a 12-day countdown that honours what we’ve achieved while setting intentions for the future.
Each bulb represents a facet of Crescent Arts: our values, our community, our history, and our hopes. As we share these reflections, we invite you to join us.
How can Crescent Arts continue to deliver engaging, inclusive exhibitions and workshops for our community?
We welcome your ideas, your experiences, and your vision for what comes next.
