Social and Racial Equity

Crescent Arts and Scarborough Museums Trust (SMT) are delighted to be working with Leeds-based agency Armstrong Cameron to review how we support social and racial equity within our organisations, because we want to understand how we might contribute most effectively to developing and sustaining a healthy cultural ecology.

Crescent Arts was established as an artist studio space in 1979 and SMT was formed in 2008 to manage the Rotunda, Scarborough Art Gallery and the Scarborough Collections. We both support the local creative industries and work with national and international artists to encourage critical debate, seeking new and exciting ways for people to connect with and participate in art. These are early days and both organisations are experiencing periods of transition. As we emerge from the national lockdown, Armstrong Cameron will help us to review and develop our practices, and continue to serve the local community and stakeholders by providing accessible, safe and supportive environments for everyone.

We will be posting updates as our work progresses. If you want to follow our journey, we will be updating on social media, websites and our newsletters.
