Join Scarborough based textile artist Hayley Mills-Styles for this two-hour introduction to hand embroidery class. You will learn how to do the basics of hand embroidery, from threading a needle to using and embroidery hoop. Hayley will work through some hand embroidery stitches including blanket stitch, chain stitch, French knots and satin stitch. These stitches will come together to create a mini sampler that showcases your new skills.

Materials: All materials and equipment will be provided.

Who is it For: The class is suitable for everyone with an interest in embroidery people who have no embroidery experience or haven’t embroidered for a while and want to brush up on their skills. We have a concession rate, and also a number of free tickets avalible for those who would otherwise be unable to attend please contact curator@crescentarts.co.uk

Artist Bio: Hayley Mills-Styles is a textile artist and tutor based in Scarborough with a passion for embroidery. She has been stitching since childhood and loves to pass on these traditional skills with a contemporary twist. Alongside her teaching, Hayley creates artwork for public and private commissions and helps people to find their creative voice in community projects. Hayley has a degree in Textile Crafts from the University of Huddersfield and a Masters in Textiles from Manchester School of Art. You can take a look at her website and Instagram to find out more.
