NEW POP UP EXHIBITION // Stories of Scarborough
An activity based project learning about Scarborough’s heritage and history - In this pop up exhibition we share what we’ve learned through story telling.
This exhibition runs from Friday 30th May – Thursday 19th June.
Working with Cavca we have hosted projects including natural dyeing and mosaic making over the past year. The project has demonstrated how skills and knowledge that were once commonplace can help communities to now address the challenges they face. This has been done through activity based events to that bring oriole together, develop understanding of the ways in which our heritage can help save money, boost resilience and show how the use of heritage skills can also benefit both climate and culture.
We wanted to take time at the end of this project to reflect on the heritage of Scarborough and explore how we can share this with the wider public.
Yasmin Stefanov-King, went into St Martins School and led 2 open workshops at The Street Community Hub to create story boxes that we invite the public to view and interact with.
This exhibition is in partnership with Cavca as part of the ‘Waste Not Want Not’ project, funded by The Lottery Heritage Fund and The Arts Council England.
