Green Mapping // A Creative exploration of plant histories and futures of Woodend with Artist Martha Cattell
Thinking about the switch from private to public community gardens, and the importance of growing together.
When; 23/08/25 , 1pm-3pm
Where; Woodend Creative Space and gardens, The Crescent, YO11 2PW
Parts of Woodend Creative Space used to be a giant verdant greenhouse, full of plants and animal life, and apparently housed some of the largest palms in Europe! It also had formal gardens which stretched all the way down to the valley. Now the former gardens are public green space and the greenhouse is an art gallery.
In this workshop join artist Martha Cattell, for a gentle exploration of the species and plant histories and mythologies of and surrounding Woodend with a series of creative activities connecting with the plants and exploring how we can collaborate with them to creatively map green histories and futures of a space.
This workshop will involve a walk outside, but this is adaptable for any accessibility needs. Please email Hannah@crescentarts.co.uk for any queries or further information.
Please wear clothes and shoes suitable for different weathers.
