New Exhibition: Sounds Better

A new exhibition brought to you by local community voices, delivered by Scarborough Museums and Galleries.

When: 2nd March – 14th April 2024

Where: Woodend Gallery, The Crescent, Scarborough, YO11 2PW

Opening times: Monday – Saturday | 10am – 5pm

“This exhibition is a celebration, showcase and documentation of a process – our journey with sound.

More than 40 participants have contributed their time, knowledge and creativity. Over the past year, patients, staff and volunteers from Cross Lane Hospital, artists and mentors from our community and the young people from the Personalised Learning College have met weekly. They have collaborated with sound artist: Tom Sharkett and Artist Mentor, Liz Boag to create a ‘Sound Toolkit’. The artworks in this exhibition have been created by the project participants and led by the creative team at Cross Lane and artists from our community.

In exploring our exhibition we encourage you to think about your own relationship with sound, to have autonomy and make decisions about which sounds you interact with as well as considering your own self-care and the possible impact on others in the space”Scarborough Museums & Galleries
